How a market can be as tourism attraction.
The Markthal, or in English is Maket Hall (a market in the Hall, like literrally), in located in the Centrum of Rottterdam. The construction itself need for 5 years and ended in October 2014 with a cost of 178 milion Euros. Wow. but it is worth the price and the wait.

The 34 meters high building is made as a residential and office building with a market hall underneath. and it is surrounded with a see trough glass window that is an artwork by Arno Coenen named Hoorn des Overvloede. using the digital 3d techniques with enormous file of 1,47 terabytes, making this market hall as the largest artwork in the world.

Enough talking about the building. Now i wanna talk about the inside which also fascinated me.


at the ground level, from the ingang or the entry you will see hundreds of tenants of daily good such as vegetables, cheese, poultry, etc. and on the side, there was windows that belongs to the 228 apartments inside the markethall. well i probably wont like to have a home on a market, but its very efficient for you who consider the location as the first requirement to choose a house.

There are lots of food, ready to eat and raw food here. really attractive for tourist, because you can also enjoy a cullinary tourism inside a wonderful building.

and don't forget the poultry, vegetables, fruits and cheese

since i was full, i only try the churros, a based snack which is popular in Spain, but my aunt said it taste better and price cheaper in the Netherlands. hahaha

And the other great thing is, they put the building behind Markthal ( i don't know the name) as their "background".

Actually there is no officially entry or exit, i call it that because that is my path when i visited it.







How to find this Markt hall is very easy, because it is right above the metro statiun and near the central station of Rotterdam. Its also right next to the open market. so when you see these bulding when you are in the Centrum, you wont hardly found it.

-its the right one. the left with yellow and blue is Erasmus Bibliotheek/library, in the middle is an appartment, and the markthall is on the right side-

So that's for the markthal review. it can be one of the must see list when you are in the Centrum of Rottterdam.
